THE CANADIAN ROCKIES—a grand outdoor wonderland of dazzling peaks, lush alpine meadows, turquoise lakes, virgin forest, towering waterfalls and epic wildlife. Start in Waterton Lakes National Park, where Alberta’s sprawling prairies meet the towering mountains, and find a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an international peace park and a biosphere reserve all rolled into one. Head to the States to St. Mary, Montana where we’ll board vintage 1930’s Red Buses for an Eastern Alpine tour of Glacier National Park—magnificent and pristine and the only place in the lower 48 where grizzlies still roam in abundance. Travel up Going-to-the-Sun Road (“a strong contender for the most spectacular road in America,—Lonely Planet) to the Continental Divide with a landscape of impressive glaciers, wildflower-strewn valleys and cascading waterfalls. Banff National Park—Canada’s first—“is one of the world’s premiere destinations, spanning a region of unparalleled majestic mountain scenery.”—National Geographic. We’ll traverse the Icefields Parkway (ancient glaciers and dramatic waterfalls), see the glowing turquoise water of Peyto Lake, trek the Athabasca Glacier on a mammoth ice explorer, witness the reflection of the Ten Peaks in Moraine Lake and stop at Chateau Lake Louise, surrounded by a panorama of chiseled mountains. An outdoor wonderland, indeed!
